Pinky and Donny were married in a Catholic wedding ceremony at the St Ita Catholic Church in Chicago this past Memorial Day weekend during their Christian fusion wedding. Being that Donny and his bride have a rich and diverse cultural heritage – Donny from Vietnam and Pinky from India – it was only logical to highlight these two cultures on the most memorable weekend of their life. Family members and friends made their way from each of the coasts to celebrate with this awesome couple.
I got to know Pinky & Donny during our first meeting months ago, and was able to also document their engagement session in Chicago earlier this spring when it was still feeling like winter outside. The wedding at St. Ita Church was very emotional and tender as the bride was escorted down the aisle by both mother and father. Earlier in the day, the groom’s parents presented the bride with jewelry and gifts which the new mother in law put on the bride as the close family witnessed, all of which were part of the Vietnamese tradition.
The morning ended at Pasteur, a Vietnamese restaurant where everyone dined and toasted in honor of the new couple before heading to the Garba, an evening of Indian dance traditions at the Swaminarayan Temple in Streamwood, IL. But we were not done yet. The next day was going to be equally awesome. Up next will be the Indian wedding at The Rookery in Chicago. Stay tuned!
