Chicago winters can be harsh and cold, but also full of snowy fun and twinkle lights, especially around Christmas time. Jessica and Daniel, a.k.a. Peppers and Payton from the Chicago Bears, came for their Winter Engagement Pictures in Chicago with one goal – to capture the Christmas spirit complete with 20-foot Christmas trees laden with ornaments, Chicago’s Gold Coast storefronts filled with garlands, figurines, presents, red and green galore, Michigan avenue with white twinkle lights lining every trunk and branch, bustling shoppers, and the clip-clop of horse-drawn carriages.
The atmosphere took me back to my old days in Paris strolling down the Champs-Élysées. First, we happily warmed ourselves up around tropical plants in the conservatory until it was dark enough to stroll through zoo lights in Lincoln Park which was like an icy Disney World packed with kids, young and old, oohing and aahing over lighted animal shapes, colorful arches, and trees sheathed in reds, pinks, blues, and greens. As you can see, this couple was not afraid of the cold (and Starbucks coffee definitely helped us feel our fingers again after exploring multiple outside locations). We had a fun time getting to know each other; I was glad to capture some romantic moments as well as an epic snowball battle in which the groom dominated. I am really looking forward to this couple’s wedding at Balmoral Racetrack this summer. Enjoy!
